Time for a change

Ok,

So I've had it with Blogger. I've been having a lot of problems trying to upload photos, so I'm going to switch to my mac service for my blog. . . as a matter of fact, I'm going to put together a website. Mac is a much more friendly (and reliable) service.

So instead of scrapbooking with all the "girl cousins" this weekend, I'll be putting together my new website and blog. Hopefully I'll have something beautiful for you all to see by Monday!

I'll post a link here when it's done.

Crystal Cove IV

So I've posted so many new things and Blogger works chronologically, so to see the stuff we did first, you need to scroll down to the earlier posts.

Crystal Cove III

Crystal Cove II

Crystal Cove Photos!!

OK. Here are a BUNCH of photos of our trip to Crystal Cove. Enjoy!

Cruise Photos!!

Ok, so I don't have many cruise photos. I wish I could have taken some in the theater of Tom's show, but they don't allow flash photography. If you want to get a small peak at what it's like, check out the following link:

I had to kill some time once my flight got in to Orlando, so I ate breakfast and checked out Cocoa Beach.

More Cocoa Beach . . I went to Ron Jon too!

A "dog" made of hand towels, Tom's glasses and my hat.

Castaway Cay

For Easter week, there were very few people there.

Kitchen Photos!!

Here are the final "after" photos of the kitchen with the tilework completed. I love it. The granite also looks fantastic. We're really happy how it all turned out! We will be repainting the kitchen when we figure out what color we want it to be.

I know what you're thinking. . .

I know. I know. A month has gone by and still no pictures. Now it's because I can't find my camera! I know it's in the house. . . SOMEWHERE!

Anyway, in the mean time, you can look at my business website. It's got some photos, but not many!

I Owe You Guys some Photos!

Man, I'm really tardy on posting new things on the blog! It's been a bit frustrating since I've been having problems uploading photos. Hopefully I'll get it all figured out by the end of the day. I've got completed kitchen photos, a couple of shots from Tom's last cruise and a bunch of photos from the week at the Crystal Cove Cottages. Stay tuned. . .

Katie's Friends Sweet 16

Hey, it's Katie writing to you in this post. So, for my friends Sweet 16, she decided she wanted to have a big blowout party. How big you ask? Well let's just say there were 150 people on a yacht with a full buffet, dance floor, light up tables, and gift bags that cost somewhere around $75. It was pretty amazing. Everyone seemed to have a good time. We did the macarana, the cha cha slide, and even the time warp!! My friend Kyle and I performed "Popular" from Wicked upon request by the birthday girl. Kyle was of course Gilinda and I was Elphaba. (To see the original performance go to youtube and type in kyle popular. I'm not playing Elphaba). To quote one person from the party, "It's not a good party until there is some cross dressing." We love Kyle anyway. When we pulled into dock, everyone was so upset, but we still partied in the limo (oh I forgot to mention that Ashley had everyone picked up in a limo to and from the boat. Mine was an Escalade. She got driven in a Rolls Royce) all night until there was no one left. It was an all around good night. It was kind of our substitute for Winter Formal, but much, much better because there were no stupid people and you didn't have to have a date! Yay! Enjoy pictures!

The Fireplace is Done. The Kitchen is close!

Well, the grout is trying but the dust is still flying. Olympic Stone finished the fireplace, and it looks great. Like I said earlier, the photos can't do it justice. The same mosaic will go on the backsplash in the kitchen. Tomorrow the cabinet guys put in the drawers and install the hardware on the cabinets. I still haven't heard back about the granite. Hopefully all will be well.

The finished fireplace. Don't you like my pots, pans and crockpot on the ledge above? The normal contents of the kitchen is currently residing in the family room and dining room.

Another view from a lower angle.

This photo shows a bit more of the detail of the glass and onyx.

Pretty pretty kitchen!

I don't know about keeping the dark wall color, but I love the new cabinets. They look like furniture.

There's Always Something. . .

Oh, the interesting things you discover while remodeling.

As it turns out, the left side of our kitchen is an inch-and-a-half lower than the right side of our kitchen. So what's the big deal? The installers are hesitant to put in the granite slab unless the area is level. The cabinet guys tried shimming the right side cabinets, but then that would put the countertops higher than the kitchen window. Not a professional look, to say the least. So right now I'm a bit nervous that we've spent hundreds of dollars on a beautiful slab that I can no longer put in our kitchen. I'm sure it will all work out, and I'm thankful to God that this is my biggest problem, but you know. Not fun times. I have a call into the granite place to see what other options we have.

In the meantime, the mosaic tile has arrived and our fireplace is being finished right now. The work continues in the kitchen. Both projects are taking a day longer than promised. . . big surprise there, huh? They say that it always takes 50% longer and 50% more money to do remodels than you budget, so I guess we're right on target.

Meanwhile, I'm continuing to edit a video for Car Crazy in my office. It's actually coming out pretty good. I'll put a link to it on the blog when it's uploaded to their site.

Anyway, stay tuned for more updates!

The front entryway with grout

The fireplace tile. It looks so much better in person. The camera can't capture the glass tile very well.

Here's a close-up. It looks spectacular in person.

Making sure that the tile is level.

Work in the kitchen continues. . .
